Universal has confirmed that the release date for Jurassic World: Dominion has been pushed back until 2022.

The third movie in the Jurassic World series was originally scheduled for release in June 2021, but fans will have to wait a little longer to see Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard back in action – a full year in fact.

The new release date for the movie has been slated as June 10, 2022.

It’s reported that the delay is not due to issues with production or because of the coronavirus pandemic – it’s Universal not wanting to overpack their already busy release schedule for 2021.

Films like Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and James Bond’s No Time To Die have all been moved to next year, with Empire reporting that Universal is pushing back Jurassic: World to ensure it makes just as much as it has the potential to on its original release.

Forbes claims that the five Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies have earned in total over $5billion (£3.8billion) already.

Jurassic World: Dominion, directed by Colin Trevorrow – who also wrote the script alongside Emily Carmichael, is even in its last few weeks of filming, with reports revealing it will be wrapping up production in the UK in around three weeks time.

It was confirmed earlier this year that fans will get to see some of the original cast from Jurassic Park return, with Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum all making a comeback for Dominion.

And speaking recently, Sam, who plays Dr Alan Grant in the movies, revealed that the original stars will feature heavily in the film and won’t just be making cameos.

‘We are fully involved, as they say. And fully involved in dinosaur films, from my experience, means risking your neck on multiple occasions,’ he joked to The Sydney Morning Herald.

Jurassic World: Dominion will be the sixth movie to come of the Jurassic Park franchise and it’s been teased that it won’t be its last.

Producer Frank Marshall has hinted that fans can expect more films to follow on from Dominion and hinting at a ‘new era’ going forward, telling Collider: ‘The dinosaurs are now on the mainland amongst us and they will be for quite some time, I hope.’

Jurassic World: Dominion is set for release in June 2022.
