While fans are delighted to know we finally have an official Legally Blonde 3 release date, many are gutted to know we’ll have to wait a while to see it.
Reese Witherspoon will be returning as everyone’s favourite pink-loving lawyer in the latest addition to the film franchise, but it won’t be hitting the big screen until May 20, 2022.
The threequel about sorority girl-turned-lawyer Elle Woods was initially hoping to hit cinemas in next February, but the pandemic has put a massive delay on production plans.
We know Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor (who has worked on shows like Brooklyn-Nine Nine and Parks and Recreation) have had a lot of fun while working on the screenplay.
While that’s being wrapped up, a director for the flick hasn’t been set just yet.
And there’s still no words on plot details or the addition of new cast members.
Thankfully, Reese and the gang had a little get together this week to give us a much-needed boost of Legally Blonde feels.
The lead actress was joined in the reunion by co-stars Selma Blair, Luke Wilson, Jennifer Coolidge, Ali Larter, Matthew Davis, Holland Taylor, Alanna Ubach and Jessica Cauffiel.
Witherspoon wiped away tears while recalling her time on the film and said fans still ask her to recreate the famous “bend and snap” scene, while others recite Elle’s “what? Like it’s hard?” line.
Legally Blonde 3 will arrive in cinemas on May 20, 2022.
