Margot Robbie expressed concern that the highly anticipated live action recreation of Barbie might not be created in time for the film’s premiere.
The 32-year-old actress plays Barbie herself in the film, opposite Ryan Gosling, 42, who plays Ken.
Fans were ecstatic when they saw Margot on the beach in Barbie Land, clad in a pink gingham frock and matching hat, greeting her fellow Barbies and Kens.
As fans were introduced to the star-studded ensemble, the Beach Boys’ song Fun, Fun, Fun played in the backdrop to the dolls’ exuberant festivities.
Despite the excitement around the film’s release, Margot has revealed she was afraid it would never see the light of day.
She told Bafta: ‘The first time I read the Barbie script, my reaction was: “Ah! This is so good. What a shame it will never see the light of day because they are never going to let us make this movie”. But they did’.

Oscar-winning director Greta Gerwig brought the concept to life and revealed to Dua Lipa on her podcast At Your Service: ‘Like, where do you even begin? What would be the story? I think it was that feeling I had that it would be really interesting terror.
‘Usually, that’s where the best stuff is. When you’re like: “I am terrified of that”. Anything where you’re like: “This could be a career-ender” then you’re like: “OK, I probably should do it”.

‘Initially, I didn’t know I was going to direct it. And then it was at a certain point while we were writing it that I realised I really wanted to direct it because I thought it was so great.
‘I think the moment I knew I wanted to direct it was when Noah said to me: “Are you sure you want to direct this?” And I was like: “Oh, are you interested in directing it? No, no, this one’s mine”’.
Greta co-wrote the script with her husband, director Noah Baumbach, who directed The Squid And The Whale in 2005 and Marriage Story in 2019.
The film will be released on July 21.
