Marvel Studios’ The Eternals has officially changed its title to… Eternals.
That’s right, the upcoming superhero flick has dropped the ‘the’ from its name, for reasons unknown… and we’re eternally confused.
But it does sort of add to the film’s mystique, right?
It could be insignificant. Or it could have all manner of epic meanings. Or… perhaps it’s just for Google purposes?
By which we mean, the logo is exactly the same – elegant, shiny gold writing – except slightly thicker.
Something tells us there are some perfectionists on board this one!
The new name was revealed in a new Walt Disney Studios release schedule, released this week.
It’s not the first time the film’s name has made headlines. Back in January, production took over London’s Camden district under the curious codename Sack Lunch.
Plot details for Avengers were revealed in January, with Angelina said to be playing a ‘fierce warrior’ and Salma Hayek a ‘wise and spiritual leader’.
Richard, meanwhile, will play the ‘all-powerful’ leader of the the ‘ancient aliens’ who double up as an ’exciting team of Super Heroes.’
The official synopsis reads: ‘Marvel Studios’ The Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years.
‘Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, The Deviants.’
Eternals is being directed by Chloé Zhao and is expected to drop on February 12 2021.
