Netflix drops classic 90s films and fans go wild for Galaxy Quest addition: ‘Worth the subscription fee alone’

Netflix has dropped some of the most iconic 90s movies to get us through December – and we have no choice but to stan.

The streaming platform gave us a very early Christmas present, announcing their newest slate of additions.

In a tweet on their official page, bosses revealed The Cable Guy, Last Of The Mohicans, Wild Wild West and Falling Down have now been added – as well as newer films Where The Wild Things Are, Sucker Punch and The Prestige.

However, fans went into absolute meltdown at the news that Galaxy Quest was now available to stream.

Flocking to the replies, one excitable fan penned: ‘I will watch Galaxy Quest every day until you take it off again. That is my pledge.’

‘Cable Guy, Wild Wild West and Galaxy Quest! What a line up,’ another said.

‘Worth the subscription fee for Galaxy Quest alone, IMHO,’ a follower agreed.

While a Twitter user posted: ‘You had me at Galaxy Quest, not bothered about the other films.’

Will Smith would like to have a word, hun…

Galaxy Quest was released in 1999, and features a star-studded cast included Tim Allen, Alan Rickman, Sam Rockwell and Sigourney Waver.

Galaxy Quest is an absolute 90s classic (Picture: Rex)

The film, directed by Dean Parisot, follows the cast of a defunct sci-fi tv show who are visited by an actual group of aliens, who mistake their series for a documentary.

The gang find themselves in the middle of an intergalactic battle to save life as we know it – as you do.

If you’re looking for a more festive hit, there is epic selection of Christmas films ready for all moods.

The Princess Switch (and the sequel), Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square, Alien X-Mas and Holidate are also there.

We know what we’ll be watching for the foreseeable future.

Galaxy Quest is available to stream on Netflix now.
