Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer smashes Avengers: Endgame record and breaks internet

Spider-Man: No Way Home was already set up to be one of the biggest films of the year but now it looks like it could beat the biggest film of all time.

The trailer for the latest instalment in the web-slinger’s franchise was released yesterday and in the first 24 hours it’s been out it has already beaten Avengers: Endgame’s views record.

A total of 355.5million people have already watched the teaser, blowing away the previous record held by the last Avengers film of ‘only’ 289 million.

No Way Home‘s draw is also more than twice that of the trailer for 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, which hit 135m views at the 24-hour mark.

Not only did millions tune from around the world to watch the trailer, but fans have also not stopped talking about the clip since it dropped.

Globally, the No Way Home teaser trailer generated the largest 24-hour social media conversation volume of all-time with 4.5m mentions.

The return of previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield has been teased for a while now, making the upcoming film very exciting for long-time Marvel fans.

The last time we saw Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, his identity had just been revealed, meaning he had to go into hiding.

And after the death of his mentor Tony Stark aka Iron Man in Endgame, he will have to find a new superhero to guide him.

In the trailer, he goes to seek advice from Doctor Strange, who is also conveniently based in New York.

He asks Benedict Cumberbatch’s character to perform a spell so that people will forget his secret identity.

Though since Peter doesn’t want some of his closest friends and family – especially Zendaya’s MJ – to forget about it, he tampers with the spell causing the universe to unravel.

The trailer also revealed that previous foes Doctor Octopus and Green Goblin are back from the dead.

Alfred Molina, who played Doc Ock in the 2004’s Spider-Man 2, is seen with his steel tentacles in the trailer.

We also hear the menacing voice of Green Goblin – played by Willem Dafoe, who died in the original Spider-Man, with one of his signature bombs rolling along the ground.
