Millie Bobby Brown would love to play Amy Winehouse in a future project.

The 16-year-old became a worldwide superstar thanks to her stint as Eleven, in Netflix’s Stranger Things.

During a chat with Netflix Latinoamerica to promote new film Enola Holmes, she was asked which heroine she would love to represent on screen, and there was only one name on her mind.

‘I wouldn’t say she’s historical, but I’d love to play her…,’ the actress began.

‘Amy Winehouse, I personally think is like an icon to R&B, blues and basically the whole culture of music.

‘I think that she really… I just love her music, and I really was impacted by her whole story.

‘And so I always say that I would love to play her.’

Amy was regarded as a music icon during her short life, after she was unleashed on the charts in 2003.

She regularly topped the charts with songs including Valerie, Back To Black and Rehab – with the latter winning her a Grammy Award.

The singer tragically died on July 23, 2011, aged 27, from accidental alcohol poisoning.

This isn’t the first time Millie has voiced her love for Amy, as she previously unveiled her impression of the star on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

‘Amy Winehouse is like my favourite,’ she told the host as a childhood video of her sining Valerie played out.

‘When I was like a kid kid, baby, Amy Winehouse was my thing. Still is.

‘Now I can listen to her and actually impersonate her.’

Millie then showed her skills, belting out You Know I’m No Good for a delighted audience.

While the teenager might not be taking on the iconic role any time soon, she will be returning to Hawkins – as filming recommenced on Stranger Things season 4.

Production on the Netflix hit halted earlier this year, as the world went into lockdown.

But cast members Natalia Dyer, Gaten Matarazzo and Sadie Sink were spotted on set this week, meaning that the upcoming series is officially back on.

And we can’t wait to see what the gang have been up to.
