Filming has resumed on The Batman after the production was suddenly halted when lead actor Robert Pattinson tested positive for coronavirus.

Warner Bros confirmed to Deadline that filming was back up and running after the two week delay, but there was no word on whether Robert, 34, had been back on set since having Covid-19.

A studio rep confirmed in a statement: ‘Following a hiatus for Covid-19 quarantine precautions, filming has now resumed on The Batman in the UK.’

An insider also told MailOnline: ‘Today is the first day the main production unit has returned to filming and there seem to be no other hiccups at the moment.’

Production had already been on pause for almost six months due to the pandemic, but just three days after it resumed earlier this month, Robert tested positive for coronavirus.

Filming had started earlier in the year and director Matt Reeves told Deadline that they had a quarter of the movie done before lockdown, with another three months of shooting left over.

When news of the second shutdown broke, it was not immediately revealed that the person who had contracted coronavirus was in fact Robert.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson told Metro.co.uk at the time: ‘A member of The Batman production has tested positive for Covid-19 and is isolating in accordance with established protocols.

‘Filming is temporarily paused.’

A source added to MailOnline: ‘We have been sent a memo telling us that a member of the crew has had a positive Covid-19 test.

‘Everyone was talking on the set about it. We do not know who has tested positive, but it has caused chaos to the schedule.

‘Everyone was looking forward to getting back to work and its come as a blow that production has stopped just three days after we began filming.

‘We have all been told to stand down until further notice and we are not expecting to be back filming for at least two weeks.’

The source joked: ‘There is an irony to all this in that you would think Batman would be immune seeing as it all started from bats.’

The Batman is currently scheduled for release on October 1, 2021.
