Speculation that Tobey Maguire might be making an appearance in Spider-Man 3 has ramped up again thanks to a comment by the Spanish voice actor who played him in earlier films.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is heading our way in December 2021 and the rumor mill has been in overdrive about past actors reprising their roles as Peter Parker in some way.

Lead star Tom Holland’s cryptic comments, casting announcements, and on-set photos have led fans to believe that the film will tackle a live-action version of the Multiverse.

This means the upcoming flick would feature a host of characters from previous Spider-Man films, both dead and alive!

Indeed, both Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx have been recast in the villainous roles they played in previous non-Marvel Cinematic Universe Spidey films.

However, Sony is yet to make any official comment about whether Tobey or Andrew Garfield will appear as their versions of the web-slinger.

One person who is talking is Spanish dub actor Roger Pera, who claims Sony has approached him to perform the voice work for the new film.

Roger was the Spanish voice for Tobey’s character in the Sam Raimi films so that has got the spidey senses of fans tingling like crazy.

When speaking to podcast El Sótano del Planet, Roger was asked: ‘Do you know if you have to dub an upcoming Spider-Man movie anytime soon?’

He replied: ‘There was a moment when I thought: this is fake, but yes, this is going to happen, I don’t know when, but we are going to work on it.’

Twitter user @cebapuerta caught the reveal and noted that the interview was deleted before being re-added with those lines edited out of the recording.

Tobey, 45, played Peter Parker from 2002 to 2004 in the iconic trilogy of films while Andrew, 37, took over in a franchise reboot in 2012 and 2014.

Tom, 24, made his first on-screen appearance as the web-slinger in 2016 and have fast become a fan-favourite after starring in Marvel’s Avengers films.

When contacted about the rumors, Sony Pictures told ET Canada: ‘Those rumored castings are not confirmed.’

Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released on December 17.
