All in a day’s work, hey Tom?
The star was seen pulling off the jaw-dropping stunt at Helsetkopen mountain near Hellesylt, Norway yesterday.
In the footage, Tom drives along a man-made, ski jump-like ramp, before hurtling into the sky, separating from the motorcycle and plummeting into thin air, as a helicopter and a drone trail him.
After a few seconds of seemingly flying, Tom launches his parachute, and floats to the bottom.
The star did the jump four times, according to onlookers.
This man is 58 – we repeat, 58 – and an inspiration to us all, regardless of age.
Director Christopher McQuarrie also teased a photo of the stunt yesterday, alongside the caption: ‘Action…’
Filming on M:I7 resumed last month after months of delays due to coronavirus.
Production was then halted once again after a motorcycle caught fire during a ‘miscalculated’ stunt also involving a ramp, according to a report in The Sun.
It’s not the first time Tom – whose occasional non-action roles include Eyes Wide Shut and Vanilla Sky – has been spotted doing his own stunts for the upcoming movie. He was previously seen filming a fight scene while wearing a harness and a face mask.
Still, he needs to pull out all the stops if he’s to better his famous stunt from the last but one Mission: Impossible film: hanging out the side of a plane.
The thought of it still makes us quite sick to the stomach.
In other recent Tom-Cruise-has-the-most-surreal-life news, the star was seen arriving in London via helicopter a few times this summer.
