BLACKPINK have finally dropped their highly anticipated debut album – which features a collaboration with none other than Cardi B.
The K-pop girl group’s first record, The Album, comes after the members released the EPs Square Up and Kill This Love in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
On the album, fans can expect to hear previously-released singles How You Like That and Ice Cream with Selena Gomez, as well as new songs such as Pretty Savage and Bet You Wanna, which Cardi has lent a rap to.
The girls – Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rose – also released the new music video for the track Lovesick Girls, which features plenty of choreography and eye-catching visuals.
Across social media, fans were quick to shower their praise for the new release, with one admitting they didn’t feel the need to skip any particular track.
‘Am I the only one streaming all the songs in the album, no skip literally ALL? [sic]’ they said.
Another enthusiastic supporter added: ‘Please don’t disturb me for a few days cause I’m streaming and memorize all @BLACKPINK new songs from #TheAlbum.’
While another tweeted their love for Cardi B’s feature on the record, saying: ‘Bet you wanna is actually so good it’s so catchy and the vocals and Cardi’s rap actually go really well together, it’s a masterpiece.’
The girl group explained during a chat with CNN that they aimed to channel a ‘wide variety’ of musical influences with their debut album.
Rose said: ‘We grew up listening to a wide variety of music. We all grew up in different areas, but I would say some of the amazing people we collaborated with we all grew up listening to and we are big fans of them.
‘It’s been a while and we feel like it’s about the right time for us to be coming out with [an album]. It contains a wide variety of music that we’ve tried to explore.’
While Jennie added: ‘[Cardi B] is our first rap feature. We are so excited to share this music with you guys.’
BLACKPINK’s The Album is now available to download and stream.
