BTS keep on making us proud as the K-pop kings have just earned their first number one in the US with their new single Dynamite.

The boy band, consisting of Jungkook, V, Jimin, Suga, Jin, RM and J-Hope, have topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time with their infectious summer banger.

According to Billboard, it’s a record-breaking achievement as BTS are also the first South Korean act to reach number one in the chart’s 62 year history. Psy peaked at number two with Gangnam Style in 2012 where the bop remained for seven weeks.

Dynamite clocked up a staggering 33.9 million streams across the US and sold over 300,000 copies in its first week of release. It means Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s former chart-topper WAP has been pushed into the number two spot.

BTS, signed to Big Hit Entertainment, previously had three other top 10 singles on the Hot 100 with Boy With Luv reaching number eight, On at number four and Fake Love climbing to number 10.

RM recently opened up about the inspiration behind Dynamite and told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe: ‘Dynamite is made of positive vibes, energy, hope, love, the purity, everything. We made this song in hopes of giving energy to the listeners.

‘We hope our fans can listen to it to receive the positive energy we tried to incorporate in the song.’

The BTS ARMY have been loving Dynamite worldwide as the track broke the top five in the UK, reaching number three last Friday.

Reacting to the chart position, the band said: ‘We feel humbled and honoured to have earned a new personal best on the UK Official Singles Chart. First and foremost, we give all credit to ARMY – without their support and love from Day 1, we wouldn’t have come this far.

‘Dynamite was created in the hopes of bringing some vibrant energy that the world needs right now more than ever. If it made one person happier, then that’s more than enough for us.’

The song’s music video also smashed YouTube records becoming the most-viewed clip with over 100 million plays in just 24 hours.

BTS delivered their first performance of the track at the MTV VMAs last night and, it’s safe to say, they killed it.
