Kylie Minogue has revealed she had a ‘meltdown’ while recording her new album during lockdown.
The pop icon, 52, said it was extremely ‘intense’ creating her record Disco while stuck in lockdown earlier this year.
Speaking to Music Week about having to record music in isolation, she explained: ‘I’d been going at such a pace every day and juggling different writers, producers and schedules and trying to be prepared – it really wore me out.’
‘I had a slight, well, meltdown. Probably sounds a bit dramatic, but I realised I’d been going at such a pace because I was driven to get this done.’
She continued: ‘There was a point near the end where I actually felt just so drained.’
The Can’t Get You Out Of My Head singer even resorted to buying her own equipment in order to properly record everything.
The star recently admitted she sings herself to sleep when she needs to block out doubts and criticism.
Kylie, whose album is expected to take on Little Mix in a chart battle later this year, said: ‘Sometimes, I think I’ve done okay but I always think there’s more to do… I do.’
Explaining how she has no plan B, she added: ‘It’s pretty much the only thing I’m good at. Am I going to change careers now?’
And with the first offering from the new record struggling to fly, the pop star says she is not fazed.
‘There’s always a new challenge. Sometimes you get it right, sometimes it’s not quite right. I’m always driven to try the next thing.’
Kylie then explained she has a tried and tested way of blocking out the critics, and her own negative thoughts, when she hits the sack with boyfriend Paul Solomons.
