Lil Nas X Offers a Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Recording of ‘Montero’ in New Video

It’s been a big couple of weeks for Lil Nas X, so he’s ready to kick back and relax in his new video for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).”

Nas released a new behind-the-scenes video for “Montero” on Monday (April 5), in which he cheekily named it the “Official Video except its not the official video at all.” Throughout the new visual, the rapper gives fans behind-the-scenes glimpses into the making of the song.

In the video, Nas works with his team at a house in Los Angeles to record and produce the new track. Throughout, there are scenes of the rapper dancing along to the track with his friends, yelling out the lyrics at small parties, and even clips of him recording the track.

The new video comes as Lil Nas X earns his first-ever No. 1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 this week with “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” The rapper celebrated the news on Twitter Monday with a series of hilarious memes, along with a more heartfelt message to those who doubted him.

“Y’all told a 19 year old who had just escaped the lowest point of his life that he would never have a hit again,” he tweeted. “You told him to stop while he’s ahead. He could’ve gave up. But 4 multi platinum songs and 2 #1’s later, he’s still here. Thank you to my team and my fans! ily.”
