Nio García & Casper Mágico’s ‘Travesuras’ Powers to No. 1 on Latin Airplay Chart

Nio García and Casper Mágico earn their first No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart as “Travesuras” takes over atop the March 6 survey.

The urban/old-school merengue track soars 8-1 with a 43% boost in audience impressions, to 9 million, earned in the week ending Feb. 28, according to MRC Data.

With the chart’s new champ, the pair scores their highest-ranking entry on the list, besting the No. 2 high of “Te Boté,” with Darell, Nicky Jam, Ozuna and Bad Bunny, in 2018.

“It’s another dream fulfilled, another goal achieved,” Casper tells Billboard. “This continues showing me that the work we are doing with our team is paying off and motivates me to continue working harder than ever!”

“Travesuras” was released on Nov. 5 via Flow La Movie, distributed by Glad Empire and produced by Xound & Goldi.  The track samples Héctor ‘El Father’’s “Noche de Travesuras” (2000), fusing its reggaetón sound with robust bachata guitar chords.

“I want to thank God for so many blessings,” García continues. “Grateful to my fans and team for our achievements. I’ve been dreaming about this moment for a long time, we work to make good music and bring it to the world! Now we have a No. 1 with our baby ‘Travesuras,’ a very important track in my career as it has a lot from my culture.”

Beyond its Latin Airplay coronation, “Travesuras” conquers the Tropical Airplay list, jumping 3-1. It’s both Garcia and Casper’s first No. 1 there.  “Thanks to the Billboard family for always following the movement closely and supporting us as Latinos!” García adds.
