Post Malone was the big winner at the Billboard Music Awards, winning a whopping nine gongs including top artist.

The BBMAs took place on Wednesday night in a crowdless theatre in Los Angeles, after being postponed from its original date and venue – Las Vegas in May – due to the coronavirus pabdeic.

And while there were no fans to cheer on the winners, we reckon Post Malone is feeling pretty happy with his haul.

The 25-year-old took home the awards for (deep breath) top rap album for Hollywood’s Bleeding, top rap male artist, top rap artist,  top rap tour, top streaming songs artist, top Hot 100 artist, top Billboard 200 artist, top male artist, and the coveted top artist.

The Circles star beat out Billie Eilish, the Jonas Brothers, Khalid and Taylor Swift for the prize, and seemed pretty stunned as he accepted his award – armed with a red solo cup, of course.

Post, real name Austin Richard Post, said: ‘I’m honestly blown away by the love that everybody’s shown to me. Honestly, I appreciate more than I could ever express.

‘It’s kind of a big deal for me and everybody involved because we work our asses off, and we just try our best every day.

‘To be able to reach out to people who might not have anybody to turn to and just be able to reach out and show everybody that they’re not alone and music can bring everybody together is absolutely incredible.

‘I just want to say thank you so very much ladies and gentlemen. I’m blown away, I’m floored. Thank you very, very, very much.’

After his speech, host Kelly Clarkson wheeled out a cart holding all nine trophies the rapper had won, and said: ‘I can’t touch you, so I had to wheel them out.’

Post said: ‘Oh my god, that’s pretty badass. We can share. We can do a timeshare on them.

‘Honestly, ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much. I have nothing to say besides I’m so grateful.’

Other big winners on the night included Billie Eilish, who was named top new artist and top female artist, as well as getting the award for top Billboard 200 album for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

Khalid won the awards for top R&B album for Free Spirit, top R&B tour, top R&B male artist and top R&B artist, and Old Town Road continued to dominate as Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’s song won the gongs for top Hot 100 song, top streaming song, top selling song and top rap song.

Lizzo, Harry Styles, Cardi B, Jonas Brothers and Kanye West also took home awards.

Despite there being no crowd, the BBMAs hosted quite the array of performances on the night, with Kelly Clarkson covering Whitney Houston’s version of Higher Love, sia singing Courage To Change and Alicia Keys performing Love Looks Better.

John Legend delivered an emotional performance of Never Break dedicated to his wife Chrissy Teigen, while Demi Lovato urged fans to vote with her politically charged song Commander In Chief.

BTS, Brandy and Ty Dolla $ign and Doja Cat also performed, while En Vogue reunited for a nostalgic performance and Garth Brooks sang a medley of his hits.
