Ariana Grande has given us a glimpse of what it might look like should she be running the United States from the White House as she took on the President for her Positions music video.
Released on Friday morning (UK time), the clip has already got more than 2million views in three hours, proving we’re been waiting with bated breath for Ari’s return after she recently teased her new release.
Going from pop star to president in the clip, we see Ariana sweeping through the corridors of the White House flanked by an all-female team of aides (YES!), while she also takes a seat inside the Oval Office to sign papers.
It’s all very presidential.
Rocking some brilliant Jackie O vibes in some scenes from the MV, Ariana wears an iconic monochrome dress and hat situation in the conference room, and a strapless LBD for signing some important documents.
Don’t even get us started on the houndstooth coat and pillbox hat she owns at the end of the clip.
Positions is the first single from her upcoming sixth album and is a love song about the singer’s willingness to please her partner as she runs the country before popping into the White House kitchen to prepare a meal.
She sings: ‘Switching the positions for you, cooking in the kitchen and I’m in the bedroom, I’m in the Olympics, way I’m jumping through hoops.’
Look, we’re sure many will wonder why on Earth Ari – who is dating Los Angeles real estate agent Dalton Gomez – doesn’t just snap her fingers and have a team of chefs cook the damn pasta, but hey, let our president do what she wants, eh?
The video also features a cameo from Grande’s dogs, as she walks them across the White House lawn, proving there really is something in Positions for everyone.
Ari dropped some big ol’ hints last week that she was blessing us with new tunes, on Sunday tweeting a link to her website, which took you to a black page with two countdowns under the word Positions.
It followed the teaser she posted on social media of herself typing out ‘positions’ frustratingly slowly.
Still, fans eager for more new music from the singer will have to wait for her as-yet-untitled new album, which is expected to arrive later this month.
The star’s most recent record, Thank U, Next, arrived in February last year and topped the charts around the world, including in both the UK and US.
This year, she has released two duets: the pandemic-themed Stuck With U, a collaboration with Justin Bieber, arrived in May, while later that month Ariana teamed up with Lady Gaga for the dance-infused Rain On Me.
We are not worthy.
