Queen Reigns on U.K. Albums Chart

For the first time in a quarter century, Queen is back on the U.K. chart throne.

Queen + Adam Lambert’s Live Around The World (EMI) snatches top spot on the Official U.K. Albums Chart, after leading the chart cycle with CD and download sales.

It’s Queen’s 10th No. 1 album in their homeland, and the Hall of Famers’ first leader since 1995’s Made in Heaven, the final studio album featuring vocals from the late Freddie Mercury.

With their latest feat, Queen draw level with Eminem, Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart and U2, all of whom have bagged ten U.K. No. 1s. For Lambert, it’s his first stint in the top spot.

Coming in at No. 2 on the latest frame is Blackpink with their their Korean-language LP, The Album (Interscope). The K-pop girl group snagged an “impressive” 5,700 cassette sales, the OCC reports.

Meanwhile, Britpop legends Oasis’ reenter the chart at No. 3 with their sophomore album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? (Big Brother), boosted by its 25th anniversary vinyl reissue, the leader on the current Official Vinyl Albums Chart.

British TV personality Amanda Holden earns a No. 4 entry with Songs From My Heart (EMI). It’s the U.K.’s highest-charting debut album of 2020 by a British female, according to the OCC.

Also cracking the Top 10 on debut is Bon Jovi’s 2020 (at No. 5 via EMI), Spice Girl Melanie C’s self-titled eighth studio album (No. 8 via Red Girl), former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters’ live effort Us + Them (No. 9 via Sony Music CG), and 21 Savage & Metro Boomin’s Savage Mode II (No. 10 via Epic/Slaughter Gang).

Over on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, San Francisco rapper 24kGoldn “Mood” (RECORDS/Mood) featuring Iann Dior enters a third week at No. 1.

“Mood” powers to the top with 6.5 million streams and finishes the week 10,000 chart sales ahead of its nearest rival, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” (Atlantic).

Finally, “UFO” (D-Block Europe) by Brit Award-nominated D-Block Europe featuring Aitch opens at No. 11 on the singles chart. It’s the highest of seven new entries to the Top 40, a list that includes fresh tracks by Shawn Mendes, Miley Cyrus and more.
