Trey Songz ‘arrested’ at Kansas City Chiefs game after ‘altercation’ with police officer

Trey Songz was reportedly arrested last night following an altercation involving a police officer at a Kansas City Chiefs game.

The Say Aah singer attended the KC Chiefs’ game against the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday for the AFC Championship Game.

Footage obtained by TMZ shows a man reported to be Trey, real name Tremaine Aldon Neverson, in a struggle with one police officer.

It’s not known what events led up to the incident, but eyewitnesses claim Trey was being heckled by people in nearby seats and stood up to tell them to calm down. It’s then that the police officer is said to have approached Trey leading to the pair scuffling and falling to the floor.

After a further struggle, the video footage allegedly shows Trey holding the officer in a headlock.

Law enforcement sources told the publication that Trey, 36, was then handcuffed and arrested for misdemeanour trespassing and resisting arrest; as well as assaulting a police officer, which is a low-grade felony.

Trey is reportedly being held for 24 hours and is expected to be released from custody tonight.

Prior to the incident, the R&B singer shared footage of himself sitting in the stands alongside clips of the players on the field. The previous day he filmed himself on a private jet en route to the game.

Trey rose to fame in 2007 with his breakout single Can’t Help But Wait and is also known for the hit songs Say Aah, Bottoms Up and Heart Attack.

He’s scored two number one albums on the US Billboard 200 chart with Chapter V and Trigga; while also receiving three Grammy nominations throughout his career so far.

In December, Trey came under fire for performing to around 500 people in a nightclub in Ohio despite coronavirus cases soaring in the US.
