Twista claims ‘an employee’ shared offensive Gabourey Sidibe picture amid backlash

Twista has blamed his recent offensive post about Gabourey Sidibe on ‘an employee’.

The rapper issued a longer apology to the actress after an image comparing her to model Bernice Burgos, with stats pitting the two against each other, was posted on his social media, asking fans to ‘choose’ between them.

Gabourey hit back and called the Overnight Celebrity star ‘a rapper I forgot about in 2005’.

After her fiance Brandon Frankel came to her defence, Twista told TheShadeRoom that the post was ‘a mistake’ he didn’t spot as he was ‘travelling most of the day’.

He has since posted a longer apology (sprinkled liberally with exclamation marks) saying: ‘Everyone is beautiful in my eyes!’

Twista wrote: ‘My true fans know my character! I operate my page but I also have other people with my company do so as well, that mistake was made by an employee!

‘Totally not my views or thought process! Everyone is beautiful in my eyes! And I also believe beauty starts from within! And I also believe your character and personality defines a person’s beauty more than their physical appearance!’

Tagging Gabourey directly, he said she ‘has always been a beautiful black woman to me!

‘As soon as I saw the post I was upset and immediately corrected it! So I apologise for letting something like this happen!

‘Once again it’s completely out of my character to have those kind of opinions or make those kind of posts!!!’

The Precious actress recently announced her engagement to boyfriend Brendan on Instagram calling him ‘the sweetest human to exist’.

She said: ‘Every moment with him is a joy. He is the partner I thought I was too independent to need. I’ve learned so much about myself through him and I feel grateful and excited to learn more about the entire world with him by my side.’
