Mark Feehily, a member of Westlife, has had to bow out of several of the band’s upcoming performances owing to medical procedures he needs, but he’s confident that his fans need not be concerned.
The 42-year-old Irish vocalist, who has been a part of Westlife from its inception in 1998, spearheaded by music manager Louis Walsh, shared this update with his Twitter followers, numbering over 278,000.
The Wild Dreams world tour, which began in July 2022 and will conclude in November 2023, is currently under way.
In the vocal quartet, Mark shares the lead singing role with Shane Filan, while Nicky Byrne and Kian Egan deliver the backup vocals.
Regrettably, Mark will be unable to participate in the June shows in Denmark, Sweden, and Mexico, as well as two July concerts in Wales and England.
He made a statement saying: ‘Sadly, I will not be able to share the stage with Shane, Kian, and Nicky for the forthcoming concerts [in June and July].’
‘I am scheduled for a minor surgery this week. I guarantee you there’s no cause for alarm but the doctor insists that this operation is necessary.’
Following a bout of pneumonia in late 2022 which necessitated the cancellation of certain commitments, Mark did not resume performing until he had recovered in January.
While Mark did not disclose the specifics of his surgery, he assured that Shane, Nicky, and Kian would provide ‘excellent’ performances.
‘I was truly looking forward to being with all of you, but this situation is beyond my control, and I am confident that you will thoroughly enjoy what are sure to be incredible performances.’
Westlife’s followers reacted by expressing their best wishes and hopes for Mark’s speedy recovery so that he may rejoin the tour sometime in 2023.
‘You’ll return even stronger and enthral all of us with your amazing talent and charisma,’ was a message from a fan to Mark.
With a total of 14 number one hits in the UK as a member of Westlife, Mark’s songs have been on the charts for an impressive five years and seven months.
