Yungblud has disclosed that when he was a youngster, he was abused by a doctor.
The 25-year-old artist, whose actual name is Dominic Harrison, has previously shared aspects of his upbringing in Doncaster, which he described as “abusive.”
He has now revealed on social media that he was abused by a medical practitioner when he was just seven years old.
Yungblud explained the meaning behind his next track despised, saying it was intended as a “rallying cry.”
‘When I was seven years old I was molested by a doctor,’ his Instagram post began.
‘I never told anyone until I told my producer when this song started to come out.

‘This is the most personal thing I’ve ever released. That’s not to say it’s soft or gentle. Far from it.’
He continued: ‘It’s a rallying cry and an exposition of the soul.’
Going on to share how the single was about ‘freeing yourself from bad experiences and trauma, finding inner strength, acknowledging the past, accepting the pain and having the courage not to let it define your future’, he added that ‘you’ve got to kill somebody to be who you want to be.’
Concluding his post, he wrote: ‘You’ve got to hit rock bottom and live through all the s**t nobody believes. You’ve got to hurt some people but first some people will thirst on watching you bleed. And that’s when you know you’ve made it. When you’re hated.’
The song will be available tomorrow afternoon.
Fans reacted positively to Yungblud’s open revelation, praising him for sharing his tale.
‘Having people like you being so open is important. This will help a lot of people,’ one person commented.
‘So so sorry you went through that Dom. Thank you for sharing with us and for sharing your music. I hope this is helping you heal from the experience,’ someone else wrote.
During an appearance on the Louis Theroux Interviews… podcast last year, the performer shared how he grew up with parents who had a ‘weird, beautifully dark relationship’.
‘It was physically and mentally and emotionally abusive. I’ve always wanted to build a world where I could exist to escape what was going on around me,’ he shared.
His parents Justin and Samantha also featured on the show, with the former acknowledging that the couple ‘did shout at each other, you know, excessively’ at that time.
While Yungblud admitted he felt that the family ‘haven’t resolved a lot of stuff together yet’, he insisted he loved his parents.
