Has 2020 made you want to pack up your things and flee to a remote island somewhere?

Well, now you can actually buy a picturesque one to have all to yourself.

A massive island in the middle of Norway’s Sørfjorden (south fjord) has just gone on the market.

The beauty spot comes with 23 acres of forest and meadowland as well as 30 buildings including a 20,000-square-foot main house, a barn, boathouse, playground, football pitch and more.

Around the island there are beautiful hiking trails, several bathing areas and a big wharf.

It’s dripping in history, too. The island of Ulvsnesøy – also known as Ulvsnes – was once home to a school for ‘misbehaving boys.’ As a result, it was given the nickname ‘Devil’s Island’.

Following the closure of the school in 1982, the island hosted a low-security prison, which was open until last year. Since then, it’s been turned into a fully-functioning farm with all sorts of animals including horses, sheep, alpacas, pigs and poultry, as well as cultivated land.

The listing on the website says: ‘Ulvsnes Island has a wide variety of trees and plants, a football pitch, several bathing spots and spectacular 360 degrees views of the fjords and mountains can be enjoyed from all around the island – there aren’t many views that can rival this.’

While the island is pretty much as secluded as it gets, it is only a short boat ride away from the mainland in Vaksdal, which boasts bars, restaurants and supermarkets.

Anyone hoping to buy the island must be willing to to part ways with a hefty £2.5 million – which is currently the asking price.
