Vegas is known for its love of indulgence
With air travel opening up to America once more, many of us will be considering embarking on that holiday of a lifetime. Vegas is a popular dream destination because there’s simply so much to do. Whether you like casino or cabaret, fine dining or fast food, Vegas has something for everyone to enjoy. We’ve rounded up some of the most thrilling spots where you can really treat yourself. There’s enough here to just about squeeze into a weekend, but you’ll still be spoilt for choice if you’re travelling for longer.
Stay in the Lap of Luxury
The Skylofts are located on the top floors of the MGM Grand
There are almost too many five-star hotels in Vegas to choose from, but what if you could stay in an ultra-luxury hotel nestled within another? Skylofts at MGM Grand is exactly that. This incredibly exclusive boutique hotel occupies the top two floors of the MGM Grand, meaning that you get unparalleled views of the Las Vegas Strip from your bedroom window. Although this stay won’t come cheaply, you really do get the five-star service from the moment you touch down. On arrival at the airport, a car can be sent for you (a Rolls Royce no less) and it will shuttle you directly to the hotel. You’ll enter on the 29th floor and be taken by your own personal butler to your suite, with two floors, solid limestone bathrooms and stunning modern artworks. If the ambience isn’t quite to your liking, or you’ve got a hankering for a snack or two, don’t worry. During your stay no detail is too minute, just ask your butler and they will oblige.
Help Yourself to Feel at Home
Although the Skylofts section of the hotel doesn’t have its own casino, all guests are very welcome to use the enormous casino at the MGM downstairs. Getting to grips with slot machines before you get to Vegas is a good idea for those who are a little unsure of how casinos work. It’s easy to play online, where you can get to grips with the basics from the comfort of your own home. If you don’t want to spend too much money on your practice then there are sites that can help you, by listing the various bonuses that are currently available on various casino websites. Once you’ve learned the ropes on your preferred game, be that slots, or something a little more traditional, you’ll be oozing confidence and look right at home in the casino.
Eat Like a King
Vegas is notorious for being a city of extravagance, and there’s perhaps nowhere that’s more obvious than at the dinner table. Diners in Vegas are treated to enormous buffets around every corner. There are fine dining establishments with waiting lists for reservations at one end of the spectrum, and some of the biggest plates of fast-food favourites in the world on the other. Be sure to check out some dining with a twist at Blackout, one of Vegas’ top names in alternative fine dining. This restaurant has an exceptional menu, five-star service and everything is served to you in total darkness. Although it can seem gimmicky at first, the darkness serves as a way to heighten your senses. You’ll be more able to discern the different textures, smells and, of course, tastes, when you don’t have your eyes to distract you. The menu is a prix-fixe affair here, with everyone being offered the same courses of a soup, salad, main course and dessert, with the option to cater for dietary requirements as necessary.
Drink in Decadence
The Bellagio is another of Vegas’ most famous resorts and they’ve recently opened up The Mayfair inside it. This cocktail bar offers world-class drinks in a ridiculously opulent setting. Red and gold velvet brocade lines the walls, grand frescoes are painted on the ceilings, huge art-deco windows separate the different rooms, it couldn’t feel more special. Whilst you drink you can enjoy burlesque dancers strutting between the tables and even organised cabaret shows on the stage.
