We’re not likely to be going anywhere soon holiday-wise, but you can still take your household on a little trip somewhere in the UK.
And where better than a country cottage that bears a striking resemblance to Kate Winslet’s character Iris’s home in The Holiday.
Acorn Cottage – which looks just like the Surrey abode where Cameron Diaz house-swapped in the 2006 movie – is available to rent for breaks on Dog Friendly Cottages (and is available over the Christmas period).
It’s easy to be mistaken by Acorn Cottage for Iris’s Rosehill Cottage, where Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Graham (Jude Law) found festive love.
With its matching gate and long cobbled pathway leading to the front door, you could be forgiven for thinking you too were the heartbroken Amanda hobbling in heels to the house from her taxi.
The similarities don’t stop there, as Acorn Cottage, located in Bretforton in Worcestershire, comes with a cosy living area with wooden beams and an inglenook fireplace to transport you to Iris’ home, as she snuggles up with her dog for the evening.
As you can imagine by the rental company’s name, you can also bring your own pooch on your trip – so no one needs to miss out on cosy staycation nights.
Acorn Cottage has also had great reviews, with one visitor commenting: ‘It was the perfect base for us and the garden was a lovely bonus and great for our dog as it was secure – located in a nice village which also had good amenities – a local shop and the local pub had great food and drink and an amazing beer garden.’
Sleeping up to four guests, with three nights costing from £301, it could be just the place for you to live out your movie fantasies.
Although, sadly, no Jude Law is included.
There’s still availability for the Christmas period, but you will need to be quick before this pooch perfect, chocolate-box cottage gets snapped up!
As ever, you’ll need to ensure you follow government guidelines when you travel (checking for any local lockdowns or different tiers before you go).
Or, if you have a spare £900k lying around, you could always have a look at buying your very own Iris Simpkins dream house.
