Tammy Slaton has disclosed that she is still unable to breathe for lengthy periods of time without assistance, despite her near-fatal health crisis.
The 1000Lb Sisters star was brought to the hospital last year when she’stopped breathing,’ and the tense clip aired on season three of the TLC show.
At the time, doctors put her in a coma and told her family that her lungs had “given up” and her body was “shutting down.”
Fortunately, she awoke quickly and entered back into a food treatment centre to complete her makeover, eventually shedding nearly 200 pounds to undergo weight loss surgery.
Despite recently being photographed standing straight for the first time in years, sans wheelchair or oxygen tank, the 34-year-old said that she is still dealing with the aftermath of her hospitalisation.
In a new TikTok video, in which she attempted to review a candle, she could be seen hooked up to an oxygen tank – although she claims she is doing’much better’ now.
‘Today I have a candle unboxing review. I can’t light it because I’m clearly on oxygen,’ she began the brief clip.
‘I’m still on oxygen because my lungs aren’t completely healed from being on life support.
‘They are still not completely healed but they are really getting so much better.

‘I’m not completely dependent on oxygen anymore. I can go at least five hours without it.’
Tammy has taken 1000Lb Sisters viewers on her weight-loss journey, which was hampered last year when she was sent to the hospital after stopping breathing at a rehab centre only hours after signing in.
She was allowed to leave the hospital after being placed on a ventilator and check back into the weight loss programme.
She became even more focused on her objectives, having previously weighed 717lbs at her heaviest – and her hard work paid off in the most recent season, when she was notified that she could have surgery after losing about 200lbs.
‘I did that! I’m feeling thrilled, proud, excited – just all the emotions,’ Tammy proudly told the cameras of her achievement.
‘I proved everybody wrong. Everybody that doubted me, I finally got my told-you-so moment!’
