Laura Hamilton has revealed one of the funniest moments she had while filming the current series of A Place In The Sun – which involved being rescued by a tractor.
The presenter, 38, revealed that a whole week’s worth of filming schedule was affected after a viewing at one remote location ended up with seven cars worth of cast and crew getting stuck in the mud.
She told Metro.co.uk: ‘We filmed in Abruzzo in Italy, where we ended up one afternoon and it absolutely pelted it down with rain.
‘We were all in our own vehicles, obviously, for social distancing and all seven vehicles got stuck in a roadblock and we couldn’t get out. You couldn’t leave the property.
‘We were stuck there. We had to be rescued by tractors. It was absolutely dire, all the vehicles got stuck and there was mud splashing everywhere.
‘It was it was just one of those afternoons that you go “oh my god, honestly, you couldn’t write this.”’
Laura says the buyer felt bad for causing the traffic jam after asking for houses off the beaten track, which happened to fall on a day with bad weather, which then caused havoc with the rest of the week’s filming.
‘She was so lovely but she felt so guilty that was all her fault because she wanted to buy a house in the Italian countryside that was remote, and it just so happened we took her to her house that was up an unmade mud track and we got literally washed out,’ Laura explained.
‘We were stuck in the mud and that was it, we couldn’t film. It wrecked the filming schedule for the week and then you’re on catch-up.
‘You won’t see that in the episode but there’s a comment I made in my voiceover about it. But at the time I was talking about it on my social media and so many people were commenting going, :Oh my god, Laura, this be amazing if it makes the show because it’s exactly the kind of thing that we need to see.”
‘That that was definitely a memorable and memorable episode.’
While it was unfortunate for the cast and crew, it did provide a vital insight for the buyer as to what she would be in for if she were to buy that particular property.
Laura added: ‘We were like no, you shouldn’t feel bad at all, this is the reality of if you want to live in an isolated place, this is what you’re dealing with. And it for sure, I think it put her off!’
A Place In The Sun airs on Sundays at 7pm and weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
