The dance floor is heating up for Strictly Come Dancing competitors as two celebrities compete in the dance off during couple’s choice week.
On Saturday’s main programme, Bobby Brazier appeared to lean in to kiss dance partner Dianne Buswell, adding to the intrigue surrounding the duo.
Angela Rippon’s Waltz with partner Kai Widdrington was less exciting, while Adam Thomas and Luba Mushtuk failed to impress for the second week in a succession, finishing in the bottom two.
The show began with an amazing number choreographed by Strictly alum Oti Mabuse, with singer Zara Larsson belting out On My Love.
Unfortunately for the Waterloo Road actor, the Calum Scott rendition of his Rumba to Dancing on My Own wasn’t enough to save himself and Luba.
The judges unanimously decided to keep Angela and Kai, although it was a’really tough’ choice because both had improved in the dance-off.
Adam and Luba were also on the hot seat during Halloween week, almost edging out evicted pair Zara McDermott and Graziano Di Prima.
The judges issued their decision after both couples performed their routines again, but commented that each dance was better the second time around.
‘It’s a tough one actually because I think both couples have improved in the dance-off and I really like both couples, so I’m going to have to make a decision on technique alone and on that decision, I would like to save Angela and Kai,’ said Craig Revel Horwood.
Motsi Mabuse agreed with Craig, as she added: ‘It was a really, really tough one this time and both improved.’
Sealing Adam and Luba’s fate Anton du Beke gave his verdict and said: ‘This is the closest dance-off we’ve had in the series so far, it’s been easy so far but this has been the most difficult.’
He noted the ‘very different styles of dance’ but shared his decision had come down to the ‘content and clarity of the technique’.
This was the end of the road for the pair, according to Head Judge Shirley Ballas, who also stated that she would have rescued Angela and Kai.
Emotional, when asked by Tess about his time on the show, Adam said: ‘Seven incredible weeks, what a journey it’s been. I honestly thought I was leaving in week two and the fact that I’ve got this far I’m so proud of myself, I’ve had an amazing time from start to finish.
‘I came here to learn how to dance and I’ve learned so much more about myself. The confidence and self-belief I now have in myself, it’s out of this world I have to thank all these guys up here.
‘What a bunch to be on this journey with, I’m just very, very lucky! I know my kids are at home now probably crying, it’s okay – Daddy’s okay! I just wanted to teach my kids that it’s not just about winning or losing, it’s about taking part and doing your best.’
He turned to Luba and regretted for not being able to attend the coveted Blackpool concerts, but thanked her for the experience.
She replied: ‘Don’t be sorry, you are incredible, I had the best season. Just to get to know you, your family and kids, it’s been much more than just a dance show.
‘You’re the winner of my heart forever and it’s better than a trophy.’
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
