Adele delivered some news about her new album while hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, while also treating fans to brief performances of her former hits.
Fans had desperately hoped the Someone Like You singer would announce a release date for her anticipated fourth studio album or debut a new single.
While neither of those happened, the 32-year-old was kind enough to at least reveal where she’s at with her new music.
‘I know there’s been a lot of chatter about me just being a host, I’ve seen all of it like, “Why isn’t she the musical guest?” and stuff like that, and there’s a couple of reasons,’ Adele explained in her opening monologue.
She admitted: ‘My album’s not finished and I’m also too scared to do both.
‘I would rather just put on some wigs – and this is all mine by the way – have a glass of wine or six and just see what happens.’
Later in the jam-packed one hour 30 minute episode, Adele took part in a Bachelor sketch which saw her annoy other contestants with her constantly breaking out into song.
Of course, it was an opportunity for the British songstress to show off her musical talents and bless viewers with snippets of her iconic hits, such as Hello, Someone Like You and Rolling In The Deep.
During the sketch, Adele also joked about how her past break-ups spawned her best-selling albums, saying: ‘I’m here because I’ve had a lot of heartbreak in my life – first at 19 and then, sort of famously, at 21 and then, even more famously, at 25.’
As she closed the segment, Adele quipped: ‘Catch me next week on Love Island!’
Now wouldn’t that be a treat!
During her monologue, Adele also joked about her weight loss and thanked Sarah Palin for launching her career in the States.
Adele released her last album, 25, in 2016 and it soared to number one around the world, while featuring the singles Hello, When We Were Young, Send My Love (To Your New Lover) and Water Under The Bridge.
