Warning: spoilers ahead for the Ahsoka episode 8 finale.
The first season of the Star Wars series Ahsoka has pleased fans, particularly those who originally fell in love with the lead heroine in the animated series The Clone Wars and Rebels.
While viewers are now wondering if season 2 is in the works, hoping that cast favourites such as Rosario Dawson, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo would return, we must draw your attention to a significant Easter Egg scene in episode 8.
Near the conclusion of the climax, a very unique figure arrives – a white owl, who many devoted fans have surmised is Morai, a bird with ties to the Mortis Gods, the Star Wars deities.
The identical bird appeared when Ahsoka made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian’s second season.
So, who is Morai, and why is her entrance in Ahsoka’s finale so significant?
Who is Morai and the Mortis Gods?
Morai is the name of a convor, a species of owl in Star Wars.

While all convoys had ties to the Force, Morai played a particularly important role in Ahsoka’s journey.
To truly comprehend this relationship, one must also comprehend the significance of the Mortis Gods, commonly known as The Ones, in the Star Wars world.
The Mortis Gods were a family of Force-wielders from the planet Mortis, comprised of the Daughter, who represented the light side of the Force; the Son, who represented the dark side of the Force; and the Father, who represented balance in the Force.
Viewers viewing Ahsoka may have noticed the massive Mortis Gods sculptures carved into the mountains of Peridea, where Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) and Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) were trapped.
Back to why the Mortis Gods must be discussed while discussing Morai.

Morai, the female convor, was firmly related to the Daughter and so represents the Force’s bright aspect.
Morai has been thought to symbolise another physical manifestation of the Daughter.
Furthermore, in a Clone Wars episode, Ahsoka is slain, but she is resurrected when the Daughter’s residual life energy is transferred into her.
Morai has appeared to watch over Ahsoka at critical periods in her life, notably when Ezra previously saved her in the World Between Worlds.
Ahsoka has already stated that Morai saved her life.
Will there be a season 2? What we know so far
A second season of Ahsoka has yet to be confirmed, but fans are optimistic.
Nonetheless, Dave Filoni, who co-created Ahsoka with George Lucas, is working on a secret Star Wars film, which might be a continuation of the character’s journey.
Speaking of the theories surrounding a possible season two, Deadline reported: ‘We hear that Ahsoka season 2 is more of a reality in the conversation, but nothing is locked yet.’
The recent writers’ and actors’ strikes might have also played a part in a confirmation not yet being on the cards.
Ahsoka is available to watch on Disney Plus.
