Alex Jones announces baby daughter’s name while breastfeeding live on The One Show

Alex Jones made another surprise appearance on The One Show tonight to announce her baby daughter’s name.

The TV presenter is currently on maternity leave from the BBC’s magazine programme after giving birth to her third child a week ago.

Returning via video call on Wednesday night’s episode, Alex revealed when asked if she’s chosen a name: ‘Yes we have, her name is Annie.’

Welcome to the world little Annie.

Presenter Jermaine Jenas couldn’t help but notice that Alex was looking a little preoccupied with Annie hidden under a blanket.

Alex then admitted to breastfeeding during the interview, joking: ‘It’s feeding time at the zoo here.’

When asked where her other two children were, the 44-year-old – who shares sons Ted, four, and Kit, two, with husband Charlie Thompson – said: ‘They’re eating spaghetti bolognese in the kitchen.’

‘Hi to everybody see you soon,’ she added.

Alex first reunited with her colleagues the previous night and showed off her newborn.

Complimenting the new The One Show studio, Alex joked her daughter even responded to the introductory theme tune.

She teased: ‘But I’m sure she kind of opened her eyes and smiled because I’m sure she probably thinks, “I’ve heard that music before…”’

‘She’s going to have to get used to that music,’ Jermaine laughed.

Alex assured the little one ‘came very easily’.

‘She’s tiny as you can see, she’s just gorgeous,’ she said.

‘And so far she’s just in her sleepy phase but so far she’s just really easy, really relaxed – let’s hope it stays like that.’

The One Show airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC One.
