Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary praised for being ‘refreshing’ after taking over Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langford on This Morning

Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary have received high praise from This Morning viewers while presenting their first Friday morning slot on the ITV talk show.

In November, it was announced that Alison and Dermot would be taking over Fridays on This Morning from presenting couple Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes in the new year.

Today marked the dynamic duo’s first outing on the Friday show and fans are already loving the ‘refreshing’ and ‘positive’ energy they’ve brought to the programme.

‘Hello and welcome to your Friday this morning, it’s so lovely to have you,’ Alison said as the show began straight after Lorraine.

As Grover Washington Jr’s song Just the Two of Us began playing in the background, Alison started singing along, reciting: ‘We can make it if we try.’

One viewer said on Twitter that Alison and Dermot are a ‘great duo’, adding that they are ‘much needed as we start this crazy 2021’.

‘Loving Alison and Dermot on #thismorning already, so refreshing,’ another person said.

Someone else said that it was a ‘brilliant decision’ to have Alison, 45, and Dermot, 47, host the talk show.

‘Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary are a JOY I’m so glad they’re now presenting every week,’ another remarked.

For their very first segment on today’s programme, Alison and Dermot spoke over video chat to a woman who claims to have the ability to predict the future… using asparagus.

With the help of her asparagus, Jemima Packington said that she believes a couple of royal divorces may be on the horizon in the coming months.

After it was announced that Alison and Dermot would be taking over Ruth and Eamonn’s slot on This Morning, Alison expressed her hope that she ‘makes you all proud’.

In a joint statement to their fans, Ruth and Eamonn said: ‘We hope you make Alison and Dermot as welcome as you’ve made us over the years. Have a Ball you two!’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
