Alison Hammond and Rylan Clark-Neal reach out to Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes as they present last Friday This Morning show

Alison Hammond and Rylan Clark-Neal paid tribute to Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes as they presented their final Friday show on This Morning today.

It was confirmed last month that Alison and Dermot O’Leary would be replacing the husband and wife’s usual weekly slot from January 2021, with the duo returning to host the show during key holidays.

Soon after Eamonn threw shade at ITV for ‘getting rid of them’, It Takes Two host Rylan publicly reached out.

Taking to social media, Rylan simply posted a love heart and tagged both Ruth and Eamonn in his tweet.

Meanwhile, Alsion wrote: ‘A class above the rest @EamonnHolmes@RuthieeL.’

Before the end of today’s dose of This Morning, Eamonn reached out to his fans on Twitter to thank them for their continued support.

‘Bye bye to you all on a Friday folks …. Hopefully see u next February for half-term This Morning,’ he penned. ‘Thanks for having us and please have a safe and Merry Christmas.’ (sic)

During the programme, Eamonn spoke about how he recently spotted a man selling Christmas trees at a discounted rate, with the trees going to buyers for half their usual price.

‘Well they’re struggling to get rid of them I suppose, aren’t they,’ Ruth commented.

‘I would say so darling, I’d say that’s the obvious conclusion,’ Eamonn responded, before making a swipe at being replaced.

‘Which is why they’re getting rid of us on a Friday now after all this sort of chat,’ he added.

Eamonn and Ruth first addressed their departure from the Friday show in a joint statement posted on both of their social media pages.

‘It’s a changing of the guard on Fridays from January,’ they wrote.

‘We hope you make Alison and Dermot as welcome as you’ve made us over the years. Have a Ball you two! It’s not Goodbye from us, it’s simply Au Revoir until the next half term.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
