Holly Willoughby is apparently trying to mend fences with Alison Hammond after Eamonn Holmes made disparaging remarks about their friendship.
During a tell-all interview about This Morning on GB News, Eamonn, 63, slammed Holly, 42, for “using” Alison, 48, as her “best friend.”
In the interview that aired last month, he told Dan Wooton that the closeness between the two This Morning hosts was “nonsense.”
‘There’s other nonsense going on that Holly Willoughby now has Alison Hammond as her best friend and was at Alison’s birthday party, Alison Hammond goes to Holly Willoughby’s select nights out with her friends…’ he began.
‘This wouldn’t have happened two years ago. Are you kidding? Alison Hammond has been on the programme for 13 years and I’m sure there was very little contact between her and the presenters.’
He concluded: ‘People just use other people and it’s disgusting and it’s tolerated.’
These remarks supposedly irritated Alison, and Holly is eager to put things right.
‘The last thing Holly wants is to fall out with Alison over this,’ a source told Heat magazine.
‘Alison was really upset by her name getting mentioned in his [Eamonn] interview.’
They claimed that Alison said ‘she has never felt used’ and her experience on This Morning has always been ‘positive.’
It goes on to say that Alison is ‘grateful’ that the ITV programme given a Big Brother reality star the opportunities she has.
‘She’s heartbroken that Eamonn would drag her into this. She’s always got on with Holly,’ they stated.
This follows reports of workplace toxicity on This Morning in the aftermath of Phillip Schofield‘s departure, the revelation of his secret affair, and his reported ‘fallout’ with his former co-star Holly.
Dame Carolyn McCall, the CEO of ITV, will be questioned by MPs at another committee meeting tomorrow.
