Clarkson’s Farm’s future remains uncertain following Jeremy Clarkson’s indignation over a ‘vile’ story regarding Meghan Markle.
It was previously reported that Amazon had broken connections with the former Top Gear host, 63, after he revealed that he ‘hated’ the Duchess of Sussex on a ‘cellular level’ and fantasised of her being paraded through the streets and disgraced.
The opinion column became the most complained about article in media watchdog history, and it was deemed’sexist’ in a landmark judgement, putting more uncertainty on Clarkson’s TV career.
According to Deadline, Prime UK’s president of originals Dan Grabiner revealed at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Thursday that ‘no decisions’ had been made regarding additional series of Clarkson’s Farm beyond season 3.
‘It’s a very complex topic but we are not interrupting production of the current season,’ he added.
Dan continued: ‘I can’t tell you what a phenomenon this show is and the impact it’s had on the agricultural community.
Amazon was’shocked and dismayed’ by the editorial, according to his colleague Fozia Khan, head of UK unscripted.
She added: ‘There are lots of discussions going on but the thing that’s important to say is there is so much more going on to the show than Clarkson.’
Prince Harry earlier called the piece on his wife ‘horrific, painful, and cruel,’ adding that what Clarkson wrote would persuade people all around the globe that this was an acceptable way to treat women.
Clarkson later apologised for the essay, calling his language’disgraceful’ and that he was ‘profoundly sorry.’ The Sun also apologised and stated it regretted publishing the editorial, which was later deleted off the website.
Season 3 of Clarkson’s Farm, which was commissioned prior to the publication of the piece, is still in the works, however The Grand Tour presenter stated it may be released later than intended.
He said: ‘We actually won’t finish filming it till October. There’s something we are trying which won’t be resolved till then. So it’s a while off yet.’
Clarkson’s current series chronicles his struggle with Oxford Council, which refused to grant the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? host permission to operate his Diddy Squat Restaurant.The restaurant did ultimately debut in 2022, however it supposedly shuttered in January 2023 owing to a difficult planning struggle.
His local ‘nemesis’ has even started a crowd funding campaign to block the restaurant, raising over £20,000 to offer ‘an initial fighting budget should this proceed to Judicial Review’.
