American Idol guest judge Paula Abdul left Ryan Seacrest speechless as she branded Simon Cowell ‘the STD’ live on air.
The 58-year-old singer, who was on the talent show’s original panel alongside the music mogul and Randy Jackson, was filling in for Luke Bryan when she made the comments on Monday night.
Paula dropped the awkward remark when Ryan reunited her with Randy on a video call.
‘I’m so excited to see you, Randy’ Paula beamed.
‘I’m so good. Ms Paula Abdul, it feels like old times, right?,’ Randy said.
‘Yes it does,’ Paula agreed.
‘We’re just missing the STD,’ she added, referring to their former co-star Simon.

‘The what?’ a shocked Ryan asked as silence filled the room.
‘Super-talented… debonair,’ Paula replied. Nice save?
Paula sat on the American Idol panel alongside Simon from the show’s first season in 2002 right until series nine.
Simon departed the panel one season later, while Randy continued until season 13. At present, Luke, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry are in the judging hot seat.

Luke was forced to miss the first live show of the season after testing positive for coronavirus.
The Country singer revealed the news on Monday as he took to social media to update fans.
‘I’m sad to say I won’t be a part of tonight’s first live @AmericanIdol show,’ he penned. ‘I tested positive for COVID but I’m doing well and look forward to being back at it soon.’
Luke watched the episode from his home where he’s currently quarantining and messaged an American Idol producer to say how well everyone was doing, though he typed a few things Ryan couldn’t repeat on camera.
‘Y’all are lookin’ pretty,’ he said. ‘Miss you all so much. Damn it, this stinks… This really hurts my heart watching. I love this so much.’
