Amy Dowden has posted an update on her ‘rubbish week’ and thanks fans for their support after admitting she suffered a devastating injury just after finishing her breast cancer treatment.
The Strictly Come Dancing actress disclosed in an Instagram post on Thursday that she had to wear a medical boot after breaking her foot.
While the 33-year-old had hoped to join her fellow pros on the dancefloor this series after being unable to compete, she has since said that this will not be feasible.
‘I’ll come in and visit the boys tomorrow, I saw some more dancing, and it’s really brightened me up,’ she said in a footage where she appeared more cheery.
‘I’ve not smiled since Tuesday and now I’m smiling again.
‘Just watched some wonderful dancing tonight and I’ll continue to do so over the weekend.’
She added that the support she’s received ‘means the world’, concluding: ‘It’s been a rubbish week, but feeling better now.’
‘Not the week I was hoping for since finishing chemo. Port out but unfortunately gained a boot for a fractured foot. 💔,’ Amy had earlier posted.
‘Absolutely gutted and heartbroken as this means the plans for me to dance in the Strictly Ballroom this year are no longer possible. This is what has kept me going the past few months.
‘2023 is certainly not my year, roll on 2024 I say!’

Amy has been on Strictly numerous times this year, assisting presenter Claudia Winkleman in reading out the terms and conditions for fans at home before voting began.
It has not been revealed how she intended to join her fellow pros on the dancefloor, whether a special dance had been planned at some time during the series or even for the Christmas special.
Following her most recent health update, she received an outpouring of love and support from fans and friends alike.
‘Oh no! Well in that case 2024 could not be coming sooner! 🙏🏼✨,’ commented former pro Janette Manrara.
‘Next year you are due 2-3 postcode lottery wins and a surprise discovery of a missing Picasso in your loft,’ Ted Lasso star Ellie Taylor.
Dianne Buswell, who has a very close friendship with Amy, wrote that ‘next year is yours’, adding: ‘Thinking of ya my Amy xxx.’
‘Sending you the greatest love!!!’ said Amanda Abbington, who withdrew from this year’s series. ‘Rest up beautiful girl.’
Amy disclosed earlier this year that she had breast cancer and had a mastectomy in July.
After doctors detected new cancers, the dancer underwent chemotherapy, and she rang the bell to signify the end of her treatment this month.
