Andi Peters’ attempt to share part of his birthday cake backfired as he stacked it while sprinting through a studio.
The ITV presenter, who is typically in far-flung locations presenting news of wonderful prizes, was closer to home on Friday morning, conducting his piece from the Lorraine studio.
Andi was also discovered to be celebrating his birthday this weekend, which was also a wonderful day.
When he was given a cake and some balloons, he decided to share his treat with some of the team by going backstage.
However, the director flatly refused his offer.
‘No I’m actually OK,’ was the response Andi received.
‘Did you just mug me off on telly,’ he said, shocked that he’d been shut down for many people to see.
‘Ah well, ok then Bob the director or whatever your name is,’ he jokingly added.
After walking the audience through the day’s competition and explaining how they might participate, Andi dashed downstairs to see if host Christine Lampard may like a slice of his birthday cake.
He suddenly saw she was in the middle of a presentation and tried to crouch down as he placed the cake on her desk.
‘You can have it, there you go,’ he said.
But just as he was about to leave the studio, Andi slipped and fell to the floor.
Andi struck the ground with a boom, and Christine, who had her back to him, questioned what had happened.
‘Did you just fall?’ she exclaimed.
‘It’s all happening today,’ she remarked, as Andi laughed in the background.
While the presenter may have been a little ruffled following his colleague’s harsh rejection, it’s not the first time he’s been turned down live on television.
Andi returned to the house of someone who had won £3,000 in the show’s ‘wake up a winner’ competition in 2021.
When he knocked on the door, however, it was clear that the homeowners were not expecting any guests so early in the morning, having only gone half seven.
After a while of waiting for a response, the door opened, and a man in pyjama bottoms answered.
The man hastily shut the door and rushed to fetch his wife, who had won the competition, while Andi explained what was going on.
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1.
