The National Television Awards nominees shortlist has been revealed… Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, unsurprisingly, are up for another award.
However, the dynamic combination may face stiff competition from a famous This Morning star – and it isn’t Holly Willoughby, who is set to return to the ITV show.
Ant and Dec have ruled the roost at the NTAs for more than two decades, winning 21 years in a row owing to their appearances on series such as I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Saturday Night Takeaway, and Britain’s Got Talent are just a few examples.
Could they accomplish it for the 22nd time at this year’s ceremony, which will be hosted by Joel Dommett of The Masked Singer? Or will national treasure Alison Hammond triumph, putting a stop to their long-running, near-indestructible streak?
The shortlist for TV presenter at this year’s NTAs includes the aforementioned Ant and Dec and Alison, as well as The Chase’s Bradley Walsh, The Traitor’s Claudia Winkleman, and money-saving guru Martin Lewis.
All are strong candidates for the award… But will PJ and Duncan once again defeat the rest of the competition? People, place your bets!
Earlier this year, it was revealed that former colleagues Holly and Phillip Schofield might face off at the NTAs, after both were named to the TV presenter longlist.
However, neither of them made the final cut.
Deborah James is being rewarded in the written documentary category for her film Bowelbabe in Her Own Words, which broadcast on the BBC about her life after being diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer and dying in June 2022 at the age of 40.
Other nominations include musician Lewis Capaldi for his show How I’m Feeling Now, Busted’s Matt Willis for his video Fighting Addiction, and former professional rugby league player Rob Burrow’s Living with MND, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019.
Love Island is up against breakthrough smash The Traitors for best reality competition, and it might be a fight of the Netflix titans as Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story and Wednesday also earn nominations for best new drama.
Which programme will win the prized Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award best returning drama, Happy Valley or Stranger Things? It’s all up for grabs!
The late Paul O’Grady, who died in March this year at the age of 67, has received a posthumous nomination in the factual category for his beloved show Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs, competing against Clarkson’s Farm, Stacey Solomon‘s Sort Your Life Out, and The Martin Lewis Money Show Live.
So, who else has been nominated for an award this year? Take a look at the whole list below.
