Ant Anstead was caught off-guard on today’s Good Morning Britain when he became embroiled in a grilling about his relationship with Renée Zellweger, ducking questions left, right and centre.
Last year, the Wheeler Dealers star started dating the Bridget Jones actress, with the pair seen cosying up over Thanksgiving and Christmas.
With another notable holiday coming up on February 14, Adil Ray and Susanna Reid couldn’t help but ask Ant whether he has Valentine’s Day plans with Renée while he was being interviewed on Wednesday’s GMB with Formula One racing driver Jenson Button, with whom he stars on Discovery Plus series Radford Returns.
Having spoken about Lewis Hamilton’s future in Formula One, Adil bluntly stated: ‘We’ve spoken to you for about five minutes now, we haven’t asked you about this, well we’ve got to. How’s Renée?’
Jenson started chuckling over the line of questioning, while Ant’s jaw dropped before he burst into laughter.
Adil pushed Ant further to deliver an answer, saying: ‘People at home may not know you’re obviously dating Renée Zellweger. Come on, come on!’, as Susanna added that the Oscar winner is ‘very close to our hearts’.
Ant turned to look at Jenson before joking that there was a ‘bad line’ over the video chat.
Taking the hint, Jenson backed up his co-star, saying: ‘The line’s gone really bad, it’s gone a bit crackly.’
The pair then spoke more about Lewis instead, expressing their belief that he’ll return to Formula One.
However, the GMB presenters weren’t going to let the topic of conversation go, as Susanna told Ant to ‘send our love to Renée’.
With just over a couple of weeks to go until Valentine’s Day, Adil brought the conversation back to the Chicago actress, asking: ‘Valentine’s Day coming up, what are you getting for her? We’re just interested!’
Jenson retorted: ‘I think a Radford Type 62-2,’ as Ant joked: ‘We’re going to get Lewis a Radford Type 62-2?’
Nonetheless, he then indirectly referenced his relationship, adding: ‘Anyway, we’re really excited for Radford, the other R in the room.’
In their new TV show Radford Returns, Ant, Jenson and sportscar designer Mark Stubbs have come together to help to bring back coach-building company Radford.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Ant introduced Renée to his two oldest children over Christmas.
The TV presenter has three children, sharing Amelie, 18, and Archie, 15, with his first wife, Louise, and his son Hudson, who was born in 2019, with Christina Haack.
Renée was briefly engaged to Jim Carrey from 1999 to 2000 and was married to singer Kenny Chesney in 2005, before obtaining an annulment.
From 2012 to 2019, she was in a relationship with musician Doyle Bramhall II.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
