Backlash as Pedro Pascal keeps Mandalorian job after Gina Carano firing despite Nazi comments

The Mandalorian fans have been reacting to the news that Gina Carano has been sacked for ‘abhorrent’ social media posts – with many claiming hypocrisy over treatment of her former co-star Pedro Pascal.

Actress Gina was fired following mounting criticism of her posts which reportedly compared being under Republican rule to Jewish people during Nazi Germany.

Many viewers were quick to point out on social media that Pedro also called out Republicans following Joe Biden’s win over Donald Trump in September and compared them to Nazis.

In a since deleted Instagram post, the actor posted a meme which featured a ‘MAGA’ hat, stating it had been defeated just like the Southern States in 1865 and the Nazis in 1945.

Twitter users have been voicing their discontent, questioning whether Pedro should keep his job while Gina loses hers.

One viewer wrote: ’It just shows just how hypocritical Disney and Lucasfilm truly is. Pedro Pascal can literally call any fan that voted Republican basically a Nazi and not get fired but praised!’

‘This is a nonsensical move from Lucasfilm. If Gina Carano can be fired for comparing people to the victims of Nazi’s, then Pedro Pascal should be fired as well for comparing tens of millions of people to actual Nazi’s,’ another said.

Former MMA fighter Gina played Cara Dune on The Mandalorian, but was let go after the #FireGinaCarano social media campaign gathered momentum this week. The hashtag urgedLucasFilm to take action following Carano’s post.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the studio announced: ‘Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future.

‘Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.’

The post is reported to have said: ‘Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…. even by children.

‘Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews.’

‘How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?’ she added.

Star Wars series The Mandalorian stars Pedro as a bounty hunter fighting the forces of the evil Galactic Empire, often joined by Carano’s Cara.

The Mandalorian is available to watch on Disney Plus
