Laura Adlington was branded the ‘most relatable’ Great British Bake Off contestant ever, during a very tense final.

The 31-year-old made it to the Bake Off finale alongside Dave Friday and Peter Sawkins – with judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood set to crown their winner.

In the signature challenge, the trio were tasked with whipping up custard slices – something Laura struggled with slightly.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go to plan, as she admitted she was ‘embarrassed’ by what she had presented to the judges.

At one point, Laura ended up needing a moment alone, and was spotted with her head in the freezer as Dave attempted to comfort her.

We’ve all been there, to be fair.

Viewers at home flocked to Twitter to agree, spurring the amateur baker on to glory.

‘Gutted for Laura! Come on lass! 2 more rounds to go! xx #GBBOFinal,’ one commented.

‘I love Laura. Totally deserved her place tonight,’ another stated.

‘What a lovely person she is and I just want to give her a hug right now…..  #GBBOFinal #runnycustard.’

‘I mean. Laura is definitely the most relatable contestant I’ve seen on bake off…,’ a follower penned.

‘To be fair to her, who hasn’t cried with their head inside the fridge #GBBOFinal,’ a Twitter user suggested.

2020 in a nutshell, to be honest.
