Marc Elliott was eliminated from Great British Bake Off in a tense quarter-final.
It was dessert week in the Bake Off tent, but Marc had a bittersweet time with the tough challenges.
He struggled the most with the showstopper – with Paul Hollywood comparing the base of his jelly cake to concrete – and was eventually sent home.
Speaking about his exit, just before the semi-final, Marc insisted he was feeling ‘surprisingly okay’ about going home.
’I came to Bake Off to face my anxiety, to face failure, to face all those things that people are quite uncomfortable about dealing with,’ he said.
‘I’ve definitely learnt a bit more about myself.’
Paul was also adamant that he had been on the biggest ‘journey’ of all the bakers, adding: ‘Each week he has got better and better and better.’
It was a better few days in the tent for Hermine, who was named as star baker – after impressing the judges throughout all three challenges.
Laura also had a great week on the show, despite struggling over the last few weeks – and nearly being booted out in last week’s show.
This means that Laura, Peter, David and Hermine have made it through to next week’s semi-final, and are one step closer to the coveted title.
Great British Bake Off continues on Tuesdays, at 8pm, on Channel 4.
