The Great British Bake Off is gracing our screens again for a brand-new series, with a fresh batch on contestants stepping into the famous tent.
One of the contestants set to make an impression on judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, is 56-year-old IT professional, Jürgen.
Who is Jürgen?
Jürgen moved to the UK in 2003, but is originally from Germany Black Forest.
His journey into baking wasn’t the easiest. Unable to find traditional German bread in his adopted home, Jürgen decided to bake his own.
It didn’t take long before Jürgen made a name for himself as the go-to baker for celebration cakes and Jewish challah bread for friends and family.
Jürgen approaches his bakes with scientific calculations to make sure they are precise and perfect results.
What is Jürgen‘s job?
IT professional Jürgen currently lives in Sussex with his wife and son.
Jürgen probably has the most unique hobby out of all the bakers this year – he is an accomplished trombonist.
What impression has Jürgen made so far?
Jürgen was awarded with the prestigious title after impressing judges Paul and Prue with his Black Forest mini rolls in the first episode.
Jürgen’s malt loaf in the Technical challenge needed improvement, with the judges agreeing he could have kept it in the oven a little longer, but the trombone enthusiast pulled it out of the bag with his Showstopper of a large standing lamp overlooking a reading book.
Paul said he could be on the way to becoming the flavour king of the competition.
The Great British Bake Off airs Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
