Batwoman: First look at Javicia Leslie’s superhero in season 2 trailer

The first trailer for Javicia Leslie’s Batwoman has been revealed, and it’s officially time for fans to get excited about season two.

Batwoman and DCEU fans were rocked by the news that Ruby Rose left the show earlier this year, but Ruby has given Javicia her blessing and the new star looks to have made the role her own already.

The first-look clip of her in action shows her pulling on the Batwoman costume for the first time and fighting against the villainous Scarecrow.

‘The new girl, she’s gonna be a handful,’ the clip notes – we certainly hope so!

Javicia made history as the first-ever black actress to play the role after joining earlier this year. She takes over from Ruby, who was the first openly gay superhero on television.

Javicia recently revealed the new re-designed costume for the iconic superhero, ready to defend Gotham from the forces of evil.

Speaking about accepting the role earlier this year, the actress said: ‘For all of the little black girls dreaming to be a superhero one day… it’s possible!’

The 33-year-old also said in a statement: ‘I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television.

‘And as a bisexual woman, I am honoured to join this groundbreaking show, which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community.’

While Ruby played Kate Kane, Javicia will play the brand new character Ryan Wilder.

Batwoman Season 2 will premiere in January 2021 on The CW. Batwoman airs on E4 in the UK, although an air date for season has yet to be confirmed.
