Sally Nugent, a BBC Breakfast presenter, has allegedly divorced her spouse of more than a decade.
The journalist, 51, and businessman, 52, are believed to have reconciled after they ‘grew apart.’
According to reports, the couple, who have a teenage son, ‘tried to tough it out for quite a long’ before calling it quits.
‘It’s very sad but they are no longer together,’ a source shared.
‘I think they tried to tough it out for quite a while as they didn’t want to split up if they could possibly help it for the sake of their son but they clearly couldn’t make a go of it.
They continued to the Daily Mail: ‘They’ve both been very guarded about the reasons behind their growing apart but it’s been plain for a while that they had been and now it’s obvious that they haven’t been able to resolve that despite clearly trying for some time.’
Sally has kept her personal life very quiet, never revealing information about her marriage or the name of her son.
According to her BBC Breakfast page, ‘Sally is married with one child – a football and rugby crazy lad.’
The presenter joined BBC Breakfast in 2021, replacing Louise Minchin, after previously working on the show on a freelance basis.
She has hosted a number of high-profile interviews and prime-time BBC documentaries, including one on Marcus Rashford and his campaign to eradicate child food poverty.
She began her career at BBC Radio Merseyside after studying at the University of Huddersfield, before moving on to broadcast sports news on BBC North West Tonight.
‘I’m very happy to become the next presenter of BBC Breakfast and deliver the nation the latest news, top entertainment guests, and stories that matter every week,’ Sally said at the time.
‘It’s an honour to take over for Louise and be a member of the UK’s most-watched breakfast programme,’ she says.
