Louis Minchin revealed her inspired choice of spread for a sausage sandwich during today’s BBC Breakfast and we’re totally here for it – marmalade.
Revealing the unconventional choice of condiment Paddington bear would no doubt be proud of, following her brief break from the newsroom, the 52-year-old shocked Dan Walker, 44, and the nation when she turned up the volume on the indulgent breakfast feast.
When Dan asked his co-host if she opted for brown or red sauce for her sausage sandwich, Louise rolled her eyes at such foolery.
‘Neither,’ she abruptly replied. ‘Marmalade…’
As Dan sat there speechless, Louise cackled. ‘That’s really messed with your head,’ she laughed.
‘What?’ Dan gasped. ‘You’re a maverick. My grandfather used to have marmalade with bacon.’

Still visibly stunned by Louise’s confession, he asked: ‘Just normal marmalade? Not onion marmalade, just normal marmalade.’
Turning to weather reporter Carol Kirkwood for some normality, Dan wanted her take on the sausage sandwich debate.
While Carol didn’t seen taken with marmalade, she is also breaking boundaries by steering away from the traditional red and brown sauce, turning to mustard. Again, inspired choice.
Louise returned to BBC Breakfast on Tuesday after a brief break with Sally Nugent taking her place.
Viewers were speculating about her absence on Twitter, with the BBC having to explain where she’d been, confirming she was simply on her annual break.
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
