The BBC has been found to be more biased than GB News, in a poll commissioned by GB News.

The news channel, which launched in June, commissioned a survey from CT Group shortly after launching, polling 1,000 adults on perceived leanings and bias of both them and their rivals BBC News.

According to the Telegraph, 42% of respondents said that they considered the BBC to be biased, with 46% disagreeing and a further 12% saying they didn’t know.

Meanwhile, when asked about GB News, only 27% of respondents said they considered the channel to be biased, with 36% saying it wasn’t and 37% not knowing.

In addition 26% described the Beeb as ‘too left wing’ and 34% described the organisation as ‘woke’ – with 21% calling GB News ‘too right wing’.

A BBC spokesperson said: ‘Independent research consistently shows BBC News is the most trusted news source in the UK and we need to be careful about making judgements based on a poll where only negative responses are available and many respondents won’t have seen the coverage of other smaller news providers, whereas eight out 10 people in the UK used BBC News each week last year.’

GB News launched earlier this summer, with chairman and presenter Andrew Neil denying that it would be the UK equivalent of Fox News.

However, it has been claimed there is a ‘power struggle’ between Neil and chief executive Angelos Frangopoulous, who wants to position GB News as such, according to the i.

Former Ukip leader Nigel Farage has joined the channel with his own show, and Neil has yet to return to his flagship show after taking a break from GB News just two weeks in.

While GB News has promised the journalist will return in September, no clear date for his comeback has been given.

Instead, Alastair Stewart will replace Neil on his show, after returning to work following a recovery period for a broken hip.

While the channel has been recording low daytime audiences, mobile viewing and YouTube views are said to be higher.

The channel has been focusing on divisive topics like ‘cancel culture’ and ‘wokeness’, although reports say that GB News will be covering more politics in the coming weeks.
