A BBC News presenter had to scurry to clarify himself after pronouncing a really nasty term live on air.
On Thursday’s episode of North West Tonight, host Roger Johnson included a piece about the world’s largest cuckoo clock.
However, when Roger initially mentioned the item, a slip of the tongue caused him to pronounce a similar four-letter term instead.
He immediately saw his error and attempted to right himself, repeating himself but being sure to say: ‘Clock collection.’
Pointing fun at himself, he jokingly quipped: ‘That was easy to say.’
Making sure to again clarify, and cover himself, he later added: ‘Clocks. That’s what I said. Just to be clear.’
The piece then ran well, with the journalist explaining the package and the proprietors saying ‘cuckoo clocks’ and ‘clocks’ multiple times without saying anything inappropriate.
When things were coming to a close, Roger jumped in for one final laugh and remarked: ‘It’s all a bit cuckoo isn’t it?’
This is not the first time Roger’s broadcasts have been briefly halted by embarrassing circumstances.
In March of last year, he was midway through an interview with The Apprentice winner Harpreet Kaur when he was interrupted and forced to leave the BBC studio.
The year prior, when presenting BBC Breakfast, the broadcaster had a technical issue that caused the programme to be momentarily taken off air.
At the moment, he described to viewers how a handmade tiny music stand that supported the screen fell.
