The BBC has delivered yet again, and just when we thought we’d seen all of the year’s uncomfortable gaffes, another one has aired.
The BBC has definitely kept viewers entertained throughout the year, from one presenter throwing the middle finger while cameras were rolling, to technological issues, background disruptions, and reporters forgetting they were still on TV.
This time, the X-rated mistake was caused by a misunderstanding over “fist bumping.”
You can imagine how that turned out.
The BBC announcer attempted to describe the euphoria on the pitch as a footage of Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp celebrating the team’s Carabao Cup quarter-final triumph aired.
However, things did not proceed as planned.
He said: ‘We saw him fisting… bumping his fists in the air there.’
While the presenter did let out a little chuckle as he recognised his mistake, he swiftly moved on to deliver the report.
The clip has now sent viewers into hysterics, with TV critic Scott Bryan resharing and writing: ‘Jürgen Klopp did what?!?’
‘A miracle he didn’t dissolve into fits of laughter after that,’ one X user, @Flutter_ish, penned.
This comes only a day after another BBC broadcaster recovered from an on-air interruption in which he was mistaken for a market stall trader.
On Wednesday morning, journalist Ben Boulos was on scene in Birmingham to report on the breaking news that UK inflation had plummeted to 3.9% in November.
A guy in a blue puffer jacket was spotted wandering behind him scrutinising the things on offer in the warehouse before disappearing off television as he was conducting a live cross.
Ben quickly stopped speaking to the camera and turned to the man, saying, ‘I don’t work here, I’m just doing the news.’
Back in the BBC studio, his colleague could be heard giggling, and Ben hurriedly apologised before continuing.
